Hindelopia - Atelier Glashouwer

Hindelopia - Atelier Glashouwer

Hindelopia is the name of the collection of fabrics designed by Harmen W. Glashouwer. The collection is inspired by chintz, the floral fabric that is frequently seen in Hindelooper costumes and interiors.

'Hindelopia' is also the name on an old map from the 17th century that referred to Hindeloopen. This is the same period in which chintz was introduced in Hindeloopen. It was the Dutch East India Company that brought the chintz from India to Amsterdam. It is therefore a very appropriate name for the collection.
